April showers can result in some nice rainbows!

Tomorrow will be another showery day but they will be a little more scattered around Carlow, breezy and cool again.

Thankfully that storm system looks to track south of Carlow tomorrow night so Carlow should escape the heavy rainfall associated with the system.

Friday and the weekend looks to remain cool with showers but slacker winds. Risk of some frost Saturday morning.

An insteresting situation for Thursday night into Friday with a low developing southwest of Ireland which will track to our south possibly taking aim for Wales and England but the track is very uncertain at present. NOAA and GFS have it pretty close to Ireland with heavy rain.

However Arpege and UKMO have track much further south meaning we escape the worst. Also in the situations winds are strongest on south edge so we should be ok to miss the winds either way. ECMWF 12z charts are rolling out at present.

Latest ECMWF also keeps it south of us. Let’s hope GFS is wrong and others are right and it tracks south of us, though often in these scenarios the outcome is somewhere in the middle of the models so south coast could see some impact. One to watch.

Rain in south of Carlow this morning with heavy showers following in behind this morning and afternoon but clearing this evening.

Longer range charts show cool weather especially on Friday which looks more like a winters day with a risk of frost Friday morning and a cool and possibly wet day!

Longer range charts don’t show any real warmth up to the 1st of May 😏

Nice evening on the Barrow in Carlow if a little breezy after a high of 15.2c.

Rain will arrive tomorrow morning around 9am with south of Carlow seeing the worst. Some very heavy showers then in the afternoon with local downpours. Around 11c in Westerly breeze.

The rest of week looks showery, breezy and cool.

The longer range weather models are showing a very poor trend to colder unsettled weather again towards the end of next week.

It is a little far out yet and could change but both of the two main weather models are showing a colder trend.

So don’t pack away those jackets yet!!

Some refer to this time of weather as Scaraveen.

The sun sets and the rain approaches from the West.

A smashing day but back to normal weather for a few days or possibly a little cooler than normal.

Tomorrow won’t be a bad day though with some sunny spells and just odd shower but much cooler than today with strong Westerly breeze.

Early days of next week then showery and breezy with max temps trending closer to 11c by Wednesday.
